Typically used to study electronic attack effects and electronic equipment vulnerabilities, APELC’s EMP suitcase high-power RF source transmits a wideband RF pulse with an electric-field amplitude over 100 kV/m @ 1m. It also is used for MIL-STD 464C testing.
Operated using a handheld fiber-optic remote control, users are able to select single-shot or automatic modes of operation. In automatic mode, the user selects a pulse repetition frequency between 0.1 and 10 Hz.
The system is powered by a removable and rechargeable, commercial off-the-shelf battery.
