Mechanical Engineering Technician (MET)
Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Technician position is full-time, and will fill a 2- part role:
- Design mechanical and electrical assemblies and test beds using CAD software.
- Build and test intricate assemblies and products.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work under the direction of Engineering team to develop product designs using SolidWorks.
- Implement “Design for Manufacture” and “Design for Assembly” (DFM/DFA) methodologies.
- Develop CAD designs, detailed written assembly instructions, and supporting technical drawings.
- Create Engineering prints including machine drawings, assembly drawings, and weldment drawings.
- Establish quality standards and assembly procedures, and communicate them in instructional form.
- Work with a technician team to assemble and test products.
- Inspect and test assemblies/products during production, in accordance with established quality standards.
- Catalog engineering data in both paper and electronic format.
- Work as part of a technician team to assemble and test products.
- Seek out and improve inefficiencies across the entire production process.
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
- Broad knowledge of hardware/fittings and their usage, including fasteners, plumbing, electrical, etc.
- VERY strong attention to detail and high standard of quality.
- Ability to thoroughly understand and effectively communicate complexities of broad range of mechanical and electrical designs.
- Ability to read and understand Engineering prints and schematics, including electrical and plumbing.
- Comprehensive understanding of common CNC manufacturing methods and assembly principles in order to effectively and efficiently design products for manufacture/assembly.
- Must have extensive knowledge and experience using SolidWorks, or similar, with in-depth CAD drafting and GD&T knowledge.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, & Adobe Illustrator.
- Experience using Schematic and PCB design software such as Cadence Orcad, ExpressPCB, Fusion 360 EAGLE, or similar is preferred.
- Ability and knowledge to safely operate common tools and lab equipment.
- Must be professional, reliable, honest, punctual, and hardworking.
- Minimum 2-year degree associate degree in Engineering Technology, CAD certification from an accredited program, or similar.
- Minimum 5 years working experience in a design/drafting field.
- Must pass background check.
